Colombian National Selection — IPT 2027
The Colombian Physicists’ Tournament (CPT) is the national stage for selecting the team that will represent Colombia at the International Physicists’ Tournament (IPT).

The Colombian Physicists’ Tournament brings together university students from across Colombia to solve challenging physics problems, perform experiments, and defend their ideas in scientific discussions.
The National Selection will determine the Colombian team that will represent the country at the International Physicists’ Tournament IPT 2027.

Universities interested in participating should register their team before the deadline.

Sunday, November 8, 2026
The National Selection is expected to take place virtually in December 2026. The final participating teams will be announced during the first week of December 2026.
Teams
Each team consists of:
6 students
University students participating in the preparation, experimentation, analysis, and physics discussions.
1 or 2 team leaders
Team leaders are responsible for supporting and coordinating the team during the tournament.
Automatic Qualification
The previous National Selection winner, Universidad Nacional de Colombia, and the host university automatically qualify for the National Selection.

The National Selection will be based on the following problems. The problem numbers correspond to the official IPT problem list .
Important Information
IPT 2027
The winning team will represent Colombia at IPT 2027. The venue is to be determined.
One team per institution
Each institution may participate with only one team.
Communication
Teams will be responsible for maintaining communication with the organizers and providing the requested information.
Written report
Teams are expected to prepare written reports describing their solutions.
Language
The official language of the tournament is English.
Representation
The selected team will represent Colombia at the International Physicists’ Tournament.
International Preselection
The selected Colombian team may also need to participate in the international preselection process before the IPT 2027.
Costs
Participation in the International Physicists’ Tournament has associated costs.
This includes food and accommodation during the international tournament. Airfare is not included.
Rules
The National Selection follows the general framework of the International Physicists’ Tournament. Rules and format may be modified when necessary for the Colombian competition.
